K800 will be released during the second quarter this year, but it´s obvious the software isn´t yet completely developed. Sony Ericsson´s requirements are extremely high about all their products with the Cyber-shot-name, says Per Alksten at Sony Ericsson. Still the software, in K800, has many similarities to earlier mobile phones from Sony Ericsson.
There are some news though. The calendar in picture mode is a new feature and it simplifies the access of the pictures in the phone. A lot of new features related to the camera function are added.
The foremost useful feature though is the flashlight, not a lamp but a built-in flashlight! This new feature in K800 is not only good for lesser power consumption but it results in a better light in dark surroundings. Red-eye reduction is built-in, as well as image stabilizer for stills and video.
The display feels sharp and so does the text which look similar the text used in Sony Ericsson´ s new walkman mobile W950. K800 feels more compact than other phones and the lens cover is more protrusive than it does in K750 for example. Even though the objective take up room, I don´ t hesitate to carry it with me.
The camera in K800 has autofocus and macromode and the pictures we show here is taken with K800, this very morning. The model we used is under development, that is the reason why one should not draw any specific conclusion of the picture quality we see here. We feel there is a little left before accomplish a complete product.
The impression is positive though and the phone is very smooth considering both 3G and a
3.2 megapixel camera are included.
