Sony Ericsson W300

W300 will be a cheaper clamshell Walkman-phone focused on a younger consumer group. It has a slot for
memorystick up to 1 GB. We´ve got our hands on it.

W300 is the first clamshell Walkman
W300 closed - with the smaller display visible. The music buttons are on the side of the phone.
W300 will be sold in a black version and a white version.

The music player in W300 is similar to other Sony Ericsson Walkman-phones. It reminds of the software in Apple Ipod. The different levels slides laterally at the display when choosing between albums, artists and tunes.

The music player supports mp3 and aac, however there´s no support for the new and better formats aac+ and eaac+. A 256 MB memorycard is included. It´s possible to change the memorycard. According to Sony Ericsson a memorycard with M2-format of one gigabyte will be released when the phone will be released. Although in time a memorycard with a increased memory will be released.

Music is transmitted by the usb-cable included. The phone supports usb 2.0 which gives you faster communications then the older usb-standard.

When you buy the phone you got the memorystick, the stereoheadset, usb-cable och software för transmitting the music from a computer to the phone.

The camera in the W300 is vga-camera, and when you look in the display of the phone you can see that this is an more simple model then a megapixelcamera.

The display on the phone is also a simple one, and we understand that the phone will have a cheaper price. The display is ok and the sharpness and contrast is good.

On the outside of the phone it´s a black and orange display. When you are using the phone to play music, you can se the title on the display. You also have special music buttons on the side of the phone. Without flipping the cover up you can change songs, start and stop the music and change the volume.

Sony Ericsson W300 also have a flightmode, with that you can use the musicpart of the phone in an airplane without having the cellphone-part on. W300 also have a FM-radio with RDS-function.
