Faked his own death to cancel subscription
August 20, 2007
Instead of paying a fee to get rid of his mobile phone contract, an American man decided to use a more terminal approach.
It was one Verizon Wireless customers that used a drastic method to get out of his subscription. After having too many dropped calls and phones not working right, Corey Taylor wanted to terminate the contract, says the Washington Post.
He did not want to pay the 175 dollars that it would take him to cancel the subscription prematurely. So, after having found out that operators can cancel a contract, he decided to fake his own death. He forged a death certificate and made a friend fax it to Verizon.
- I thought, what do I have to lose except a phone that I hate? Taylor asks in the Washington Post.
But the staff at Verizon was not that easy to fool. But Taylor seems relatively happy despite getting caught with a lie.
- I can bet I sent a clear message about how much people hate being locked to phones that are not working, Taylor said when the whole thing was revealed.
