New LG phone a real power pack

LG Electronics is now starting to release information on the U990, the follow-up to the Prada phone. Where the Prada had quite ordinary features, the U990 promises to be a real power pack, with turbo 3G and a 5-megapixel camera with real flash and auto focus.

So far, the LG U990 has only been officially launched in Korea.

LG U990 is known by its nickname Viewty, probably due to its camera. The camera will be sporting 5.1 megapixel, auto focus and a real xenon flash. In addition to that, there will be an image stabilizer and a manual focus mode. The light sensitivity stretches to ISO 800. The camera can also be used to record video in VGA resolution (640 x 400 pixels) with 30 frames per second. It will also be possible to shoot 120 frames per second, but then probably at a lower resolution.

The U990 is also a follow-up to LG's Prada mobile, which means that the front is equipped with a three inch touch display with 240 x 400 pixels and 242,000 colours. However, it is still not clear whether the LG U990 Viewty will carry the Prada brand or not.

The combination of touch display and camera mobile is not necessarily the best. To punch the screen to set the camera and shoot and image is hard to combine with aiming, but judging from the photos, the U990 has real buttons for several of the camera features.

Where the Prata phone was a simple GSM phone, the U990 has 3G and HSDPA (turbo 3G), however, only at the speed 1.8 Mbit per second. The phone also has an internal memory of 170 megabyte, a memory card slot for microSD cards up to 2 gigabyte and stereo Bluetooth support.

According to sources, the phone will be released in Europe this autumn.
