E-ten enters the elite
September 05, 2007
Within short, E-ten's latest model X800 will be available in store. It has both turbo 3G, GPS and a high resolution screen, a combination that might be a competitive alternative to Nokia's and Sony Ericsson's top models.
E-ten X800
Mobil Magazine learned about the E-ten X800 when displayed at the Cebit fair in Hannover this March. It was then displayed on a wall in E-ten's stand and was far from ready. Now it is on its way to the market, and will probably be available during next month. The price will be a bit above 600 euros.
That is about what you have to pay to get a Nokia N95 and more expensive than a Sony Ericsson P1, but in return the X800 has more features making it an adequate alternative. For instance, it has a 2.8-inch screen and VGA resolution, which is 640x480 pixels. That is the same size as Nokia's upcoming N95 8GB, still at a lower resolution (240x320 pixels).
Included in the more interesting functions is also turbo 3G with support for data speeds up to 3.6 megabits per second. The X800 is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera with auto focus. The front also has a 0.3-megapixel camera for video calls.
Internal GPS using Sirfstar III is also available among the features.
The battery time using the GPS is stated to be 2.5 to 5 hours. If only using it as a phone the talk time is 5 to 7 hours. Using it as a handheld computer, it handles 10 to 15 hours before needing a recharge. E-ten states that the X800 has a standby time of 120-1500 hours.
The operating system is Windows Mobile 6 Professional. That means that among the preinstalled programs there are simpler versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Internet Explorer. You also get a mobile version of MSN Messenger that is more similar to the computer version than the Java versions offered by many operators on simpler phones.
