Sony Ericsson's gaming mobile might finally be on its way
September 10, 2007
Rumours about an upcoming gaming mobile from Sony Ericsson has circulated the net for quite some time now. Now there are more and more sources saying that the manufacturer will release a gaming mobile.
Sony's brand Playstation is likely to appear in Sony Ericsson shape.
The latest indication of Sony Ericsson's imminent release of a gaming mobile is information the web site Mobile Entertainment has managed to get its hands on. According to Mobile Entertainment's source a gaming phone will be launched in February next year. Contrary to other sources, it is said that the phone will not be released carrying the Sony Playstation brand. It is however now unlikely that we will see such a phone in the future.
Peter Ahnegard at Sony Ericsson was recently interviewed by the Pocket Gamer web site. During the interview, Ahnegard confirmed that a Playstation phone will be released “before Christmas”, while adding, however, that he could not say anything about “which Christmas” he was referring to.
There have been several occasions when speculations about a new Sony Ericsson Playstation phone have taken place. Regardless whether it will be a Playstation mobile that will be the first gaming mobile from Sony Ericsson or not, it is still not far fetched to assume that Nokia's relaunch of its N-gage concept will lead to a counter strike from Sony Ericsson pretty soon.
