Sony Ericsson comments Microsoft mobile
September 20, 2007
Sony Ericsson now comments on the rumours that the company is planning a Microsoft mobile. The company confirms that it is having a dialogue about future business possibilities but ”cannot say anything about the details”.
Soon seen on Sony Ericsson phones?
It was yesterday that among others Bloomberg and Dresdner Kleinwort reported that the Taiwanese business paper Commercial Times had broken the news that HTC is going to manufacture a Microsoft mobile for Sony Ericsson.
- I can confirm that we are in discussions with HTC. I cannot say anything about the details about what we are discussing, says Mattias Holm at Sony Ericsson.
But can you comment on whether or not you will announce a Microsoft mobile next year? - I can say that we continue to be committed to Symbian and UIQ.
But there are several mobile manufacturers making both Symbian and Microsoft mobiles. For instance Motorola, Samsung and LG? - Yes, that is absolutely so. We must look at business opportunities continually. But we cannot comment any of it further until we have something ready.
But the statements from Taiwan that HTC will manufacture a million Microsoft mobiles for you, what truth is in that? - I cannot comment what our dialogue with HTC looks like, but I can confirm that we are having a dialogue with them as well as other third party manufacturers. However, the information now available is not correct.
