Nokia is to make the computer available from mobiles

Avvenu makes it possible for mobile users to access files that reside on a computer. Nokia has now completed the acquisition of the company, and will let the service be part of the focus on business users.
Nokia dearly wants to talk more about its advanced phones as “multimedia computers”, but there are still some areas where they cannot completely measure up to real computers. For instance the limited storage space.
To get around this problem, Nokia has acquired Avvenu, a company with different services to make desktop files accessible on mobile phones.
Today Avvenu offers up two services. With the standard version, one can access files on a desktop, and if Google Search is installed, it can be used to quickly search for files. In that manner one does not have to flip through the folders, which otherwise take quite some time, when done on a mobile phone.
It is also possible to share files with others. Then a link is sent to those person's mobiles, and they can access the files without having to create any Avvenu account.
Avvenu also offers an additional service, where one can access files even when the computer is turned off. The files made available on the desktop are copied to and are kept synchronized with a server at Avvenu, where they are always accessible from the the mobile.
