Rumours: N95 challenger from Samsung
February 04, 2008
According to Czech web site mobil.cz, Samsung will launch the G810 phone at Mobile World fair next week. The phone will sport about the same specifications as the Nokia N95: 5-megapixel camera, turbo 3G, WLAN, GPS and Symbian Series 60.
Despite nearly a year and a half having passed since the Nokia N95 was first displayed, there is actually no other manufacturer that has made a phone with the same combination of 5-Mpx camera, WLAN and GPS - at least not outside Japan and Korea. But if we are to believe the Czech web site mobil.cz, things are about to change.
Samsung G810 is, according to them, going to be launched at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week. The specifications of the phone are nearly identical with the N95. In addition to the camera, WLAN, turbo 3G and GPS, it is also a smartphone with the same operating system as in the Nokia N95; Symbian, with Series 60.
There are more similarities comparing to the N95: the screen size being 2.6 inch and having an 3.5 mm ear plug. The phone is to be equipped with a 150 Mb internal memory and a micro SD card slot. The phone is connected to the computer and charger via a micro USB cable.
If our Czech is correct, the site states that the device measures 104 x 52.9 x 18 mm. The battery is 1200 mAh and the price around 15.000 Czech korun, that is, about 585 Euro. Probably excluding VAT and operator rebates.
