New Sony Ericsson mobiles soon to come

Sony Ericsson's next launch takes place on June 17. Five or six new phones are expected. Among them G702, code-named Beibei, and P1-follow up code-named Paris. A simpler Cybershot mobile called C300 is also expected.

The launch will take place at the CommunicaAsia in Singapore on June 17, according to The Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog. Considering the place of the launch, it is not unlikely that several of the models will not reach Europe.

According to plan, Beibei and Paris will be launched. Beibei has already surfaced with US authorities as G702. It is a smartphone with a different kind of design, but the specifications are similar to those of the G700.

Paris has for long been considered as the follow-up to the P1, but according to information at Mobile Review, it might actually by a re-packaging in a neater format and with built-in GPS. The phone is said to be based on the same hardware platform as the P1, and therefore it is unclear whether it will get turbo 3G. According to sources, the phone will be using the latest software from UIQ, but the preview models currently sport the older version seen in among others the G900, and it remains unclear which version the phone will get eventually.

A new name has also been seen in a profile document, said to be the official name of the Paris: P200. That however does not fit really well with the naming scheme currently in use by Sony Ericsson, which would make the P200 a business phone in the lower price segments in candybar format. We therefore believe the P200 to be some other phone, perhaps a yet-to-be-seen budget model.

Another source for leaks is Sony Ericsson's wap site, where a profile for the C300 has emerged. With Sony Ericsson's naming, that should be a candybar Cybershot mobile in the lower price range.

The wap site tells that the C300 has a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels and the Netfront 3.3 web reader, not the latest version of the browser as seen in the K660 and the W770. This indicated that the phone uses an older platform. We do not know anything about ht camera, but a qualified guess is that it will be 3.2 megapixel and a successor to the K550.
